Palmer fired up to get started

<b>GEORGETOWN, Ky. –</b> The New York City area has been good to Carson Palmer in the past nine months. Last December, he was awarded the Heisman Trophy at the Downtown Athletic Club. Back in April, he showed up at Madison Square Garden to be formally introduced as the No. 1 overall pick in this year's draft and get some face time with NFL commissioner Paul Tagliabue, although he had already signed on with the Bengals two days earlier.

On Sunday, Palmer will see his first action in an NFL game, albeit a preseason one, when the Bengals meet the Jets at 1 p.m. at Giants Stadium. Palmer is expected to see action in the second half after Jon Kitna and Shane Matthews take their snaps in the first two quarters. "I'm fired up," said Palmer following Thursday's lone practice, which was cut short by 30 minutes due to a lightning storm... Recommended Stories
