After a good seven-yard gain, Kenny Irons hobbled off Ford Field to the nearest cart and was taken to the locker room. As it turns out, it was the last run of a very short season for the rookie tailback.
Irons had been having a superb training camp, and fans and teammates alike were excited to see him contribute and add some lightning to Rudi Johnson's thunder.
They'll have to wait until 2008, as Irons is now on injured reserve with a torn ACL. The team will turn to Chris Perry and Quincy Wilson to fill the gap.
More on the story to come.
