The NFL fined 10 players on both the Bengals and Jaguars. Whitworth and Henderson were fined $10,000 each for the fight, while the other players were fined between $2,500-$5,000.
“I think I got fined $2,500. I mean, no big deal,” said Ocho Cinco. “I haven't been fined all year, so I'll just be sure to appeal that. I wasn't part of the fight, I just happened to be on the field. I really didn't interact in anything at all. So really where the fine came from, I'm not sure.”
The only Bengals player on the field at the time of the fight not to be fined was quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick.
“We might fine him for being the only one not fined,” said Jones.
Jones said he was not sure if he would appeal his fine yet.
“The way the terminology reads, technically if you enter a fight area you get fined but that is one of those deals where that’s tough for them,” said Whitworth. “Guys are trying to break up a fight. What do you want them to do? Stand there with their hands behind their backs or something? It is what it is. The rule reads the way it reads.”
INJURY REPORT – The Bengals have eight players on their Wednesday injury report but head coach Marvin Lewis expects to be without the services of just three of them Sunday against Philadelphia.
Quarterback Carson Palmer (elbow) and rookie wide receivers Jerome Simpson (ankle) and Andre Caldwell (foot) were among the players not practicing Wednesday and will not play against the Eagles. Simpson said on Wednesday that he hopes to return soon, possibly next Thursday when the Bengals play at Pittsburgh. Lewis concurred, and said Caldwell could be on the same timeline.
“I think those two kids are both pretty close to being able to play again, which is good,” said Lewis. “They could have an opportunity to play at least. They should be back to practicing at some point next week, I hope.”
Linebacker Eric Henderson (neck), defensive tackle Pat Sims (knee) and safety Chinedum Ndukwe (foot) also did not participate in practice Wednesday. Linebacker Rashad Jeanty (foot) and defensive end Antwan Odom (shoulder) were limited in practice.
Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb did not practice Wednesday but that was due to a non-injury situation.
FOOD DRIVE – The Bengals and the FreeStoreFoodbank are teaming up this Sunday for their annual food drive. Non-perishable foods and cash donations will be collected at the gates of Paul Brown Stadium prior to the game against Philadelphia.
Last year’s food drive produced a collection of 11,099 pounds of food and $12,424.
